Lily sighed and peeked over her shoulder. Straight behind her, she saw a head with black, dishevelled hair. She sighed again. The head belonged to James Potter, her personal nightmare.
She really hoped he wouldn’t ask her for a date this afternoon. Actually, she hoped this every day. But this time, Lily didn’t know, how she would react. Normally she would shout at him and try to look daggers at him. But would she be able to do that now? After yesterday? After everything he had done for her?
Flashback
Lily sat at breakfast with her best friends Alice and Mary. She wasn’t very happy. Not 24 hours ago, she had a bad fight with Snape. Yeah, Snape, not Severus.
They weren’t really friends after that “Mudblood!” in their fifth year, but Lily would have forgiven him, if he had changed his friends.
But now, he made everything even worth. Now their friendship was really over. When she tried to save it, he told her, to go to Potter and cry. He exactly new, that she hated the Marauders, probably except for Remus.
“Owl Post!” Mary interrupted Lily’s mind. Relieved about the avocation, she looked up and recovered her owl Silly. Silly came down and landed at her owner’s shoulder.
Lily fondled her and gave her a little piece of her toast. When she took the letter, she realized that it was from her parents.
“What’s our first lesson today?” Alice suddenly asked.
“Charms, when do you start to memorise that yourself?” Mary answered irritated.
“Charms!?” Lily gasped aghast.
“Yeah, what’s the problem?” Mary wanted to know.
“I’ve forgotten my homework at the common room. I’ll go and fetch it, see you later!” Lily explained and ran back to the Gryffindor tower.
When she has taken her essay, she noticed that the letter was still in her hand and she hadn’t read it yet. There were still fifteen minutes left and so she sat down at the sofa in front of the fireplace and opened it.
When she had finished reading, tears started to run down her face. Petunia had married – without her. Her sister didn’t allow her mother to invite Lily.
First Snape and now Petunia. That was too much for her. She buried her face in her hands and started to cry.
Lily noticed that someone sat down next to her and caressed her over her back.
“Lily?” a familiar voice asked. It was James Potter.
“Get away!” Lily started a half-hearted try to get rid of him. Her voice trembled, before she sobbed loudly.
James didn’t obey. He hugged her and held her.
“Shh!” He whispered comforting. “Everything will be okay!”
Lily relaxed and let him comfort her. Immediately she felt less friendless than before.
When she calmed down he run his hand over her hair and disappeared.
Lily felt a little bit bad, when he was gone.
Flashback close
Suddenly Lily had an idea. She took a piece of parchment and started to write.

Lily turned back to James and they grinned at themselves. Lily Evans has actually a date with James Potter!
