Laufbahn:
Alan Rickmans Vater starb als er acht Jahre alt war. Während seines Studiums in Grafikdesign traf er seine spätere Lebensgefährtin, Rima Horton. Seine Schauspielerkarriere erstreckte sich von der Theater-Bühne über Fernsehfilme bis hin zur großen Leinwand. 1997 gab er in dem Film "The Winter Guest" mit Emma Thompson in der Hauptrolle sein Regie-Debut. "Harry Potter" ist für ihn der erste Auftritt vor einem jüngeren Publikum.
Er erlag am 14. Januar 2016 einer Krebserkrankung in London.

- Alan Rickman bekam die Rolle als Professor Severus Snape erst, nachdem der britische Schauspieler Tim Roth abgesagt hatte.
- Alan Rickman wird von vielen Fans für seine markante, tiefe Stimme bewundert. Leider ist diese in der deutschen Synchronisation seiner Filme nicht zu hören. Absolut ein Grund, um sich die Harry-Potter-Filme auch einmal auf Englisch anzusehen.
